What is it about?
The dot producta⋅b=a1b1+a2b2+a3b3 is a number. Since a⋅b=∣a∣∣b∣cosφ, it gives the angle: (1,0,0)T⋅(1,1,0)T=1, cosφ=21, φ=45°. a⋅b=0 means perpendicular; ∣a∣a⋅b is the signed length of the projection of b onto a.
The cross producta×b=(a2b3−a3b2,a3b1−a1b3,a1b2−a2b1)T is perpendicular to a and b (right-hand rule), e.g. (1,0,0)T×(0,1,0)T=(0,0,1)T. Its length ∣a∣∣b∣sinφ is the area of the parallelogram. For parallel vectors it is o.
The triple product(a×b)⋅c gives the volume (base times height); shearing keeps it (Cavalieri). A negative sign means a left-handed system.
